Google Instant Basics and Its Impact on Google Adwords

Google instant official team membersGoogle had just brought out another new product Google Instant in September 2010 for giving a better search experience for web users. Google is constantly trying to give us better user experience and Google Instant is one of the features as Search As You Type. It automatically shows related popular results for a query that begins with those letters. Google representative claims that they apply here real time algorithm for predicting the rest of the results of the query based on the popular search terms made by other web users. In this way, Google instant is trying to read human mind as artificial reasoning.

So what is Google Instant?

Google instant is a new search platform for reducing time by showing relevant results when a query is typed by web audience. Just in a word, Google instant will help users to find information faster than before (can save 2-5 seconds per search). By getting immediate feedback from search results, users are able to refine their searches more quickly and get the expected results.

New Impression Counts Technique and Google Adwords?

So how it will affect Google Adwords performance, according to Google official statement, Google instant will not change the way ads are served. But it has introduced a new meaning to impression. In this new system, an impression is counted if a user takes an action to choose a query, for example -

1. Presses the Enter key or clicks the Search button or by selecting one of the predicted results
2. The user begins to type a query on Google and Clicks a link on the results page
3. User stops typing and the results are displayed for a minimum of three seconds

Are not some bad Impacts on Adwords?

Here is the point for 3 seconds, if a user is taking more than three seconds for some irrelevant purpose like receiving a phone call, talking to colleagues, watching the prediction results etc. then there will be counted an extra impression which overall makes an impact in average CTR & Quality Scores. Also there is possibility, Google Instant real time search may give results which are not exactly related what the user is looking for.

Suppose, a user tries to find out more information about floweret. The user enter flowe in search box, may be there are predication and suggestions as flowers, flower girl dresses, flower factory, flower meanings etc. based on search term flowe, but may be not for floweret. So in case, users make extra impression for those keywords unintentionally.

So Google Instant is not harming SEO process by making some extra impressions?

I am so simple a guy who can’t claim this thinking with stress. I am just struggling for feeding my family and passing my life in this way. I don’t have much time for thinking about it and claiming my thoughts.

Though according to Google in Adwords help section -
Google Instant can improve the quality of your clicks since it helps people search using terms that more directly connect them with the answers they need. Therefore, your overall campaign performance could improve.
